Reid received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, along with minors in Economics and Political Science, from Colorado State University. Reid graduated summa cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law with a concentration in Intellectual Property and Communications Law. While attending law school, Reid worked for an automotive racing team, designing parts for open-wheel race cars, and as a clerk for the Michigan State University Office of the General Counsel.
Reid has extensive experience in the preparation and prosecution of patents for green technologies, such as those used in hybrid vehicles, and has a strong interest in the fast-growing alternative energy sector. Reid has served as Law School Liaison for the Michigan Intellectual Property Lawyers Association (MIPLA), and retains a strong interest in area law schools and education of lawyers.
Reid focuses his practice on preparation and prosecution of domestic, international, and foreign patent applications in the Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical arts, litigation support, and client counseling. Some of Reid's technology areas include: advanced electric motor/generators; control algorithms for hybrid powertrains; braking systems for hybrid-electric vehicles; leading-edge animated LED signage; business methods and computer algorithms; hydraulic control schemes and components.
