Jean M. McCarthy

Jean concentrates her practice in patent law with an emphasis on the preparation of domestic and international patent applications in a variety of technical areas, including the mechanical and electro-mechanical arts, litigation support, noninfringement opinions, freedom to operate opinions, and client counseling. Jean has researched, prepared, and prosecuted patent applications in numerous technologies such as automotive powertrains and control systems, metal processing and business methods.

Jean graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and obtained her J.D. with honors from the University of Michigan Law School. Jean has worked as a mechanical engineer in the emissions control laboratory of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, and in electroplating and metal stamping areas of General Motors Corporation, and has experience in business law.

Jean is a shareholder in the firm, serves as a Council Member of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and is a member of the Michigan Intellectual Property Law Association.
