Ellen concentrates her practice in patent and trademark law with an emphasis on obtaining and enforcing patents. Ellen graduated magna cum laude with a B.S.E. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan and obtained her J.D. from Wayne State University Law School where she was named a David Adamany Constitutional Law Scholar. She was previously a patent agent, and then an intellectual property attorney at a law firm in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where she concentrated her practice in patent prosecution and litigation support. Prior to joining the legal profession, Ellen worked for BASF Corporation in several engineering and logistics roles, and gained experience in chemical plant operations, equipment design, forecasting, and production scheduling. During her undergraduate education, Ellen worked for Ford Motor Company in the Environmental Quality Office.
Ellen has researched, prepared, and prosecuted patent applications in numerous chemical and mechanical technologies such as lithium ion batteries; automotive and industrial coatings and components, including grind resins and pigments; polyurethane foams and components, including isocyanates, polyols, catalysts, and blowing agents; polymers, including microcellular and thermoplastic polyurethanes; elastomers; pharmaceuticals, including gastrointestinal compositions; silicone adhesives; cosmetics; metal matrix composites; proppants; and automotive components.
